anybody else having trouble with fodors site?

I am often times having trouble responding to a message. I get especially frustrated when i post a ? and people take the time to answer my ?'s and then i can't thank them or ask further ?'s. It is very sporadic that it will go through. Is it my computer or the site?

Actually, I couldn't even reply to this post. A dialogue box popped up and asked me to "sign in." Over the weekend, it took me many hours for the messages (left side of screen) to load. I have done searches under my name to review my posts, and there are many missing in my profile.

Also, on my screen right now there is a post "Spinach - just how do the Italians do it?" The screen indicates zero replies, but when I pulled the message up, there were two replies to the question.

Maybe Fodors should hire better IS help.

That's right, make a liar out of me! As soon as I made the remark about "Spinach" the screen indicate three replies!

I had the same problem for a couple of months in the Fall. Very frustrating!
I deleted all my "cookies" which helped for awhile. Do a search under "trouble posting!", and you can find all sorts of suggestions.

Also, Danny Mangin, the Fodors man, recently had a post regarding this problem (directed at AOL users, as there were more complaints from them - I use AOL). He suggested upgrading Explorer, and he had a link to do that, which I did. It seems to have worked for me!

Smacknmo, I just noticed that Danny Mangin's message is still up there. It's at the top in RED, in the lefthand column of post lists, "MESSAGE TO AOL USERS". At least Fodor's is well aware of this problem and are trying to do something about it.

Anyway, try deleting all your cookies, then rebooting. That has worked for some people.

If you have AOL, that is definitely the problem. I haven't had any problem posting at all in the last month or so. I did have to re-sign in once, maybe Monday, because I think Fodors was doing something to the site that wiped out the previous sign-ins (It was down quite a while on Sunday or so, as I recall). When it's been up, I haven't had any posting problems.

I do not have AOL. I have a cable ISP and use Internet Explorer with Windows 98.
