Any Experience with Piccolo Hotel Etruria in Siena?
Does anyone know anything about this hotel in Siena? They evidently have two buildings across the street from each other, one is referred to as the Dipendenza. We are choosing between it and the Hotel Duomo. Duomo has free parking, won't guarantee a room with a view and has a rate of 130 Euro.
Hotel Etruria has a rate of 73 Euro with no parking allowance available. It is small and family-run, in what appears to be a good location. Just curious is anyone knows of it or has had any direct experience with it.

Thanks, Pam

We stayed in Duomo May of '01, and the parking was not close to the hotel, but we were able to drop the luggage off, etc. Depending upon the time of year you're planning to go, I can't imagine where people park whose hotel doesn't specify a place. I'd check that out before booking any hotel in Siena.

The Duomo was just fine, nothing to rave about, but great location, clean, reasonable, etc. Don't think you could go wrong with it. Do they have vacancies for Oct., tho? When we were there in May of '01, they were telling us they were already booking for Oct. of that year.

My husband and I stayed at the Duomo in May 2002. We had a nice room with very modern bath/shower. It was a good place to stay. I stopped by the Etruria to see if they had a room available (we didn't reserve ahead for Siena, but we should have), the Etruria was fully booked but the staff seemed very nice. We ate at their restaurant, my husband had an excellent steak with a balsamic vinegar sauce. The Etruria is very close to the Campo, much closer than the Duomo is. I'd go for the Etruria if they have an opening, Frommer's gives it an excellent review.
