I believe that Rick Steves uses this hotel for his tours.

The hotel Cannon d'oro is a very small hotel, the location is excellent as its at the end of the main street in Siena (its pedestrian so peaceful). Its certianly not a fancy place,no view,no bar,no lounge. If you are travelling with a low budget its fine I guess.

Stayed at this hotel is September, 2001 for 4 nights. It is basic, but clean and the room was large with a nice view of the countryside from our window. It is a great location, right in the middle of the old city center. Only problem is if you have a car. There is no parking at the hotel. You will have to park outside the city center either on the streets or in the lot at the stadium, about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. You are allowed to drop off your luggage when checking in if your car can fit down the alley that leads to the hotels entrance. I had a BMW and had to fold in the mirrors to make it. You can get a discount on the rate if you mention Rick Steves travel book. This was the least expensive hotel of our trip but we were happy overall.
