Any douts ? Just Ask

Hi everyone. I am new member here. Found some good stuff over site, so now decided that maybe my help could be usefull for someone. I live in Munchen now (studying), but origonally from Russia, Saint-Petersburg. If you guys have any questions about Russia in common, or in particular about Saint-Petersburg feel free to ask me.

Thanks for the offer. I could have used your expertise before I took my recent trip to St.Petersburg and the Baltics in June.

I've always wondered, why does Russia make it so difficult for tourists to go there, with the visas, invitations, all that rubbish? A lot of countries want tourists to help the economy. What's up with that?

What would you say to gays and lesbians who want to visit Russia - would they be warmly welcomed or not - I hear Putin is anti-gay - remember the flap with the Sochi Olympics. Though I'm not gay if Russia discrimates against gays I would boycott travel there.

2Pegontheroad: hope you enjoyed it.

2PalenQ: no matter $, € or any other other currency, you can change it to Russian ruble. About gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders situations is interesting. People in Russia don't like when someone shows off his orientation. In common. But actually never seen any negative actions towards lgbt members. Also there are no anti lgbt laws in Russia, the only thing they can't do, is similar to all other people with heterosexual orientation - no one is permitted to propagand sexual relations among under aged children.

2Christina: unfortunately, I am not a member of MFA, if you suppose, that Russia is carrying out wrong visa policy, you can direct your suggestions to Russian MFA.

2pariswat: it is a thousand pities, maybe I can help you with the invitation, my friend owns hotel in Saint-Petersburg, if you need help contact me at private messages.

LeonV - you seem to be authentic - often these posts are from someone with an interest in a hotel or something. So to have your valuable offer reah a broader audience here I would re-post your thread with RUSSIA right in the title - your title now is so non-descript that few will even click on it.

Like:

QUESTIONS ON TRAVEL IN RUSSIA - JUST ASK!

Anyway you'll get a lot more responses even though now it is tagged Russia but many only see the main title and pass by not knowing what it is about. And check your spelling - Like douts should be doubts!

Cheers and thanks for offering. I did two-months in the Soviet Union once long ago and found it interesting but at that time rather hard to get decent hotels, food, etc without paying a fortune plus I had to be guided from city to city with some official greeting me at the city's train station - fine I guess but bothersome.
