Annecy worth a side trip?
Hi! I'm starting to plan my Sept trip to Switzerland and am wondering if an overnight trip to Annecy from Geneva is worth it. It's our first time to that area and we already plan to spend 1 night in Geneva and 2 in Montreux. Will Annecy feel too similar? The guidebooks say that Annecy gives you a taste of the French Alps, so I'm wondering if going there is redundant after Geneva & Montreux.
Thanks for any help!

I, too, loved Annecy. The lakeside situation is beautiful, and the town itself offers interesting buildings and good food. It's walkable, and you can take boat trips on the lake. I started one trip in Annecy (flew to Paris, TGV to Lyon, regular train to Annecy) and then on to Annecy and Murren (where I broke my wrist and had to go home!).

I haven't been myself but helped a friend plan a couple days trip there (since I'm generally familiar with that area). She loved it. Since Geneva or Montreux are not in the French Alps, I don't see what's redundant about it (other than they all have lakes).
