Amsterdam crowds

We may be in amsterdam in early to mid June. How crowded will it be with tourists?

or I guess another way to word this is: from april through October which are the most and least crowded months?

weather I would assume could be iffy.

thanks

Just like most anywhere else in Europe, April-May and Sept-Oct are less crowded while June/July/August are more crowded.

No April and May are very crowded in Amsterdam - it's tulip time!
June is probably the quietest of the summer months, but it will still be pretty busy. October is the quietest, but still busy.
June should be good weather in theory, but in practice the last two years have been miserable. We must be due a good June next year!

Amsterdam is also a popular weekend short-trip destination within Europe. So you're likely to see less crowd if you can avoid weekends. June can have looong daylights, while October is still lovely without being too cold (albeit on a chilly side).

Yes, tulips would bring a 'few' travelers to Holland... but we haven't experienced crowds in April the several times we've been..Maybe May is more popular?

We spent a wonderful week in Amsterdam in May and were surprised how uncrowded it was. We flew there from Venice which was the extreme opposite.

Queen's Day is very crowded -- exciting, but crowded.

We have been there several times - I think the key is to try to stay in a not so crowded area - we like the canal ring and the Jordaan. Even in the high tourist seasons these areas are not so crowded - not like Dam Squaare or Leidensplein.

Haarlem is always less crowded and more pleasant overall. The weather will be 50-60F with double Dutch drizzle in June going into July. April and May weather is usually better.

Amsterdamned is perhaps most mobbed during the week between Christmas and New year's of all times - impossible to get a hotel unless booked far in advance

i looked once for my son starting weeks before and virtually nothing

Tourist office lady said it was the businest week of year.

July and August are always crowded because Europeans get their vacations then

weekends anytime anymore can be impossible to book hotels

avoid weekends though to me a crowded Amsterdamned is better, more lively than a deserted one, rare that that happens

We were there the 1st weekend of June this year, and it was not bad-we stayed out in the city at a canal house and it was lovely. The weather was perfect- enjoy!

IMPORTANT NOTE:

There is a HUGE conference every year in September, roughly 9/8-9/15 or thereabouts. You will have a huge PROBLEM getting a room during that time if you don't book well in advance -and- you can expect to pay a premium for it.
