Amsterdam Apartments or B&B's
I sort of have a hotel picked out (Ambassadore?) but we thought we should think about an apt. or B&B also.
We usually stay in an apt. in Paris and like that situation but we know our way around.
We know nothing about Amsterdam so I'm not sure about an apt.
Any suggestions?

Be aware that the Amsterdam municipality is currently cracking down on illegal sublets and Airbnb.

We have a house boat booked for June, right in the center near the Anne Frank museum. 1 bedroom plus 4 extra bunks, a kitchen, a bathroom, washing machine, and a foozball table. It seemed like the most appropriate way to stay in Amsterdam.
If you look at Directstay.com there is a search option for house boat.

Sounds thoroughly nice. A cool place to hang out, especially at night and in summer is Noordermarkt. There's a couple of nice dining options nearby, and of course wonderful Finch.

Very local, very welcoming, yet very hip, in the good sense of the word, too.
Another "secret" address is DIEP on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, with its neighbour BEP.
