Houseboat / apartment rentals in Amsterdam

Hello! We are currently seeking reputable information on houseboat and/or apartment rentals in Amsterdam for a 7 or 8 night stay. Our first trip to Europe last month left such an impression on us that we’re already planning a return trip next spring. We’re hoping someone can offer suggestions on vacation rentals in the vicinity of Vondelpark, the Leidesplein or the Museumplein! We would like a place with a kitchen (or at least a refrigerator and stove top/hot plate), a shower and at least one double bed. Linens and cookware would be helpful, too. We’ve tried an internet search, but we’re just not sure which websites to trust. Some of the ones we’ve contacted said it’s too early to book for next spring. That’s fine because it’s too early to confirm our travel dates, too. We just want to search our options to find descriptions and rates for a few places in the area. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

I've been looking for a B&B in Amsterdam and found this website very helpful. www.bedandbreakfast.nl. They have a lot of apartments too. Hope this helps!

Amsterdam Escape apartments have received rave reviews on trip advisor.

Hi Bisco

We're booked on a great looking canal boat in De Pijp for early May. Here's the web site that we used. http://www.houseboathotel.nl/
We've corresponded with a past renter as well as the boat owners, were led to their own website and feel very comfortable with these folks.

They have several well equipped canal boats in the locations you desire.

I'll post a review upon return.

We used http://www.houseboathotel.nl/ to book a houseboat in Amsterdam last October. We spent 4 days here during our honeymoon.

The boat we rented was "The Hendrik" and very nice, although not near the museums/Vondelpark. We had no problem with organizing the houseboat through the website, the boat was absolutely great and I highly recommend it!

How does one typcially "pick up the keys" for a houseboat rental? Do you stop at a rental office in town?

When we rented a houseboat, we called the person that we were renting from once we arrived in Amsterdam and she met us at the boat to give us the keys and show us the features of the boat (how to use the laundry, stove, etc.). We could have also set a time to meet in advance, we just didn't know what train we'd be taking into the city.
