Amsterdam apartments
My wife and I will be in Amsterdam for a week or so in September, and are thinking of renting an apartment. Does anybody have any experience with Amsterdam apartments, particularly apartments in the Jordaan and in the region between the Rijksmuseum and Centraal Station?

As a citizen of the Netherlands I hardly ever need accommodation in Amsterdam. However, I do have experiences with the website Holiday lettings. http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/amsterdam/
Both the Jordaan and the region around the Rijksmuseum are fine to stay. The area near the station is more crowded and, at least in my view, less authentic. The area around Haarlemmerstraat and Noordermarkt however, is fine.

Amazing place, impeccable reputation. Inexpensive, too!

My husband and I have visited Amsterdam twice, and both times stayed here. Fabulous apartment and location! http://www.meapartment.nl/

Are you aware that the *first floor* in Europe is what we call the second floor in the USA? Also FYI, Dutch stairways are very steep and narrow.

I'm currently in Amsterdam staying in an apartment on the Singel canal near Dam Square (link below). It's a great location and the apartment is very comfortable with a beautiful canal view. The management company was very easy to work with, too.
Yes, the stairways are steep and narrow. This one has 2 flights of spiral stairs.
