American Football in Bars in Amsterdam?
Does anyone know a good place in Amsterdam to watch American football on Sunday nights live, or if it is even broadcast live over the Satellite? I am going to be in Amsterdam next weekend (Sept 5 - 8) and I wanted to unwind by watching football after my first day at the Dam.
I am staying near the Leidseplein.
Any help is appreciated.

I doubt that you will have any trouble unwinding at the Leidseplein and vicinity. There are plenty of cafes (bars) with plenty of locals who want to practice their English.
American football has a very low regard in Europe. The only source I could find in Germany was on American Forces Network via antenna from a local US Army base.

There is a bar in central Amsterdam. I don't know the location, but I do believe it's called American Bar. It is a sports bar but as stated above not much of American football following, but they will go out of their way to find the NFL game of the week for you and switch one of their TVs to that channel. It's not a satelite thing, it's just regular programing, so the TV station only has one game - The game of the week, whatever that may be. I believe it's the Sunday afternoon (4p eastern time) national game. Look at www.nfl.com for national TV schedule.
That's the only one place I was able to find.

On my most recent trip to the Swiss alps, I had to keep up with the mighty Atlanta Braves and less than mighty in their first game, Tennessee Vols, by going to the internet to the yahoo.com sight.
On that Yahoo sight, it gives log drives so you can keep up with your team play by play, but you have to keep feeding coins into the machine.
The only time I ever saw a college football game live in Europe was once in Germany. The hotel had a satelite TV connection in one of their hotel lounges. I went down into the lobby one morning about 3 AM to watch Tennessee and Auburn play.
Europeans do not have the passion for American football that we have. They like that sport where they kick that little round ball around for hours upon hours and the score remains 0-0.

First you have to find a pub or bar with Sky Sports - generally if you have large crowds watching football matches, you should ask if the bar will be showing American football. They might say no.
Sky Sports shows a couple of the games during each session on Sunday. If you are in GMT +1, they will begin at 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm. For Monday night football, Sky Sports shows it on Tuesday morning 11:30 am, I saw a bit of it yesterday when I was walking by the Sports Cafe on the Leidseplein.
