Amalfi Coast

My husband and I are planning a trip next fall to the Amalfi Coast for 2 weeks. Of all the beautiful towns in that area, we want to pick two and stay a week at each and take day trips. What 2 towns would you choose and where would you stay that's reasonable and romantic!?

Amalfi, on the sea, and Ravello if you want to be perched high above the sea (Ravello is just above Amalfi) are my two favorites. Many also like Positano and any Amalfi town is just so cute! Can't go wrong.

We're staying there on our honeymoon. Positano and Capri. Though I 2nd the Ravello recommendation. If your budget permits, look at the Palasso Sasso.

Good luck,
Natalie

Hi loc,

Is this early Fall? End of Sept?

No sense changing towns on the AC, it's only 60 km from Sorrento to Salerno.

You might want to consider one or two nights on Capri.

Hi Loc,

I've been to the Amalfi Coast twice, just recently in Sept. My plan would be:

Naples or Sorrento - 3 nights
to see the Archeological Museum, Capidomonte Museum, Pompeii & Herculaneum

Capri or Ischia - 2 nights will probably be enough. Capri = more tourists and tour groups (personal experience). Ischia = less (so I'm told by locals).

Positano, Praiano, or Ravello for the rest of your nights. Positano = more tourists, high end shopping, some nightlife. Praiano = quiet, few tourists, no shopping. I loved Le Sirene as recommended frequently by Ira. Ravello = small, scenic, nice to relax. Requires more transportation effort.

If you like Greek temples, save one night for a stay in Salerno, or a bit further south, and see Paestum. Beautiful!

Buon viaggio!

Get away to a quiet little village halfway between Positano and Amalfi. Easy access to busses, ferries, excursions, daytrips, but really peaceful, quiet, and breathtaking. I'm talking about Praiano and the Hotel Onda Verde. You will love it.
