Roxie, on Capri I love the hotel Mamela, 4 star with large rooms and nice pool, the non view rooms are less expesive(obviously).
For more info log on to www.caprionline.com and look under the 4 star hotel catagory it will take you to the hotle's web site.
Best of luck

What town along the Amalfi coast do you recommend? I need/want a budget hotel. I'll be just coming off Oktoberfest so I'll want R&R.

If you want to stay in Amalfi, La Bussola is a pleasant hotel down by the harbor, not very expensive. Also for rest, ira has a favorite in Priano which would be good. Look in Fodors hotel guide for some suggestions and also other guides.

Hi Roxie,

We will be staying at Le Sirene in Praiano, between Positano and Amalfi. They want 60E for a single w/bkfst.

Sorry WWW.hostelscalinatella.com. and
remember this is a budget hotel/hostel so you basically get what you pay for.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I appreciate it.

Our budget is up to 80-100 euros. What towns along Amalfi do you recommend? To tell you the truth, I've been so busy at work that I haven't had time to research.

Also, can you recommend any good, budget-friendly restaurants?

Roxie, I just picked up Rick Steve's ITALY 2002(I know, 1 yr. behind)from our library. He suggests the following for eating well & cheaply in downtown Sorrento...
Ristorante Pizzeria Zi 'Ntonio
Pizzeria Giardiniello
Sant Antonino's
Pizzeria Da Gigino
Osteria Gatto Nero
Davide Gelato(best gelato)

Positano:
La Tre Sorrelle
Da Vincenzo
Da Costantino

**If I could give you a little tip-I have checked out tapes for some simple Italian lessons "Pimsleur's Speak Italian in Eight Easy Lessons".Look for it at your library-so,so easy. Natives really appreciate that we've taken the time and effort to learn some of their language-they'll really warm up to you for trying.(My friend at work has been twice, and she insisted we learn-very well received).
