Am I misdialing this Lisbon hotel? Help!
I am trying to book the Corpo Santo Hotel in Lisbon in January. One of the dates shows as “limited availability, call this number”. From the US, on a land line, I am dialing the 011 first, then the number they’re giving on their website (which I think includes the country code, 351). I am dialing: 011 351 218 288 000.
This is not a small hotel - it’s 75 beds. But no one is answering the line.
Do you think they’re just overwhelmed with calls? Or am I messing something up. Thank you SO much for any help or advice.

Hi, this is probably too obvious - I am not sure which numbers you dial to get out of the US (I am in Australia and we use 0011) - but what time of the day are you calling? Right now it's probably middle of the night and everyone is asleep. Or does your query relate to other times of the day?

"From the US, on a land line, I am dialing . . ."
Besides it being 0-dark:30 in Europe and no one answering . . . have you tried from a cell phone? Sometimes (just occasionally) an overseas call from my land line fails (possibly for no caller ID?? ) but works from my cell.

Thanks for all the replies. I tried 001 instead, and no dice. I’ve called during the day as well as middle of the night. The number is the main hotel number as well as reservations.
I’ll let you know once I reach them! I have a feeling that because the UK just opened up to Portugal, they’re overwhelmed.

Email them and ask about connecting by phone if they can't give you a reservation by email. Using an on line booking site like booking.com will cost them a significant commission, so they may want to help you with a direct booking.

Iwan2go it seems like they are not taking reservations until June 1. At least that is how it appears to me. I had to reach a hotel in Porto to cancel a reservation for June 4, but I could not get anyone to answer the phone or emails. Because they are not open until June 1.. I got it sorted but that was the reason, no one around until June 1.maybe the case here too.

Your phone number was correct as to how to call Lisbon from US.
Do not use 001, that is the prefix for dialing the US FROM Europe, to not Europe from the US..
I do not know why you don't want to reserve from their website, you can easily do so for Jan 2022, I just did. They even give you a 30 pct discount on their website. Well, I didn't really book it, but I got the rooms and rate up to giving them my CC info.

People keep posting "book on line" which is what usually works . . . Except - your OP clearly says ""One of the dates shows as “limited availability, call this number”." So the fact they could do a dummy booking for random dates in January probably isn't relevant to your specific dates.

Hi!
I phoned the hotel, they pick up the phone after 2 seconds. Of course as I am in Portugal, it was easy, but at least it seems that the problem is dialing form USA. Anyway, she said she received an email form probably you, and was answering to it, her name is Liliana.

Helena! You are so kind to do that!!!
I did receive an email reply yesterday - and it was indeed from Liliana (she’s probably thinking, how does this woman in LA have a Portuguese connection…). She said they have do two rooms for the additional days that I was unable to book online. I’m so excited - we even invited my brother and SIL to join us, and they’re trying to book as well.
I tried calling again now, but it is midnight in Portugal so perhaps they don’t answer after hours? I’ll try again late tonight.
thank you all so much! Whoo hoo!

Thank you! But... 1st, I don't pay for phone calls (I pay a fixed amount every month, no matter how many calls I make). 2nd, I was curious. 3rd, I am really interested about this issue. I've always told people to call Portugal they just need to dial 00 351 XXXXXXXXX or +351 XXXXXXXXX, from any country. It seems I'm not giving the correct information.
