AM Flight - Venice

Is it possible to get to the airport from Venice for a flight at 6:50 am? How?

Taxi boats can take you directly to the airport. We had our hotel reserve a taxi and he was waiting when we came with our luggage. We had plenty of time that morning so we had him take us through town rather than the faster outside route.

kao, thanks for asking this question. I've been wondering the same thing because I have a 7:20 am flight out of Venice next month.

goose, the taxi boat sounds like a good idea. How early do we need to leave the hotel, and how much should we expect to pay? In my case, I'll be leaving from Accademia with my wife and 2 kids.

Thanks!

This summer we took a water taxi from Rialto to Marco Polo airport and the charge was 85 euro. It's not cheap, but it sure is a convenient and luxurious way to leave such a great city. The ride is approximately 30 minutes.

From the Accademia, the walk to the Zattere Alilaguna stop is maybe 10-15 minutes (NOT the same as the Zattere vaporetto stop ... it's good to walk to it during the daytime). The cost per ticket is 10 Euro and the ride to the airport is 50-70 minutes. The first boat leaves at 4:20 a.m. (Just a note that the shuttle was 10-15 minutes late at the Zattere stop but made that and more up after the last pickup stop.) Once at the airport dock, a free shuttle bus takes you to the airport terminal. The airline ticket counters don't open until 5:00 a.m.

My recent flight was at 7:30 a.m. and I had approximately 45 minutes waiting time after checking in, going through security, etc.

We had an early flight out of Venice last February and had the same question. We ended up taking the Aliliguna boat. The price was right (10 euros per person) and the ride was fine. They have a website so you can check it out. My kids wanted us to take the water taxi, but we opted for the aliliguna instead - we saved a bundle and the ride was fun.
