alps in early May
I'm driving from Munich to Lake Como in early May, and will stop overnight about 1/2 way.
My question is this: I realize the weather is going to be shite (most hotels in the Engadine are closed) ... but is it going to be "winter" or "summer." In other words, if I do catch lucky break with the weather, does that mean there will be snow on the ground for skiiers, or grass for hikers/walkers (like me).
I'm so confused ...
Also ... any cheap hotel recommendations anywhere from Pfunds to St. Moritz?
danke!

"usually" it's very difficult to tell. You need to be flexible and prepared for anything. But it's not different from anywhere else in high mountain areas. Maybe or maybe not. Even in summer, the weather can change within minutes. You need to pay close attention to the local forecast and stay away from trouble
