As I am afraid of rainy weather in ITALY, I will change my mind to visit Switzerland.

Can anyone tell me the Feburay weather in Switzerland?

Will it be very cold , rainy , snowy or sunny days ??

If possible, I will go there with my wife and 2 childrens.

Hope you can give me an answer.

You don't say where in Switzerland you intend to spend some time in February. The weather conditions will vary greatly depending on your location. When I lived in the NW region of the country, we had one February where the temps never rose above freezing during the day. If you go to a ski resort you will have both sunny and snowy days. In the lower regions, the weather tends to be more damp & cold than sunny. Best bet is to google your intended weather destination.

Unfortunately, there is absolutely no way to predict the weather this far in advance, particularly in the mountains. Folks may be able to determine how cold it might be, but whether it rains or snows or is sunny can really be determined just a day or two in advance.

One year, I planned a ski trip to Wengen in February because I was sure there would be plenty of snow by then. Of course, there was enough snow to ski on, but just barely. The ski class had to go hunting all over the mountains to find the powder. And there was no snow to speak of in the village itself.

And as waggis notes, the conditions vary quite a bit by region. Will you be in the mountains? North of them? South of them?

If you want to hedge all your bets, you could stay in someplace like Luzern, Bern, or Thun -- large towns or cities that are close to the mountains but have plenty to do in case of bad weather.

AR, yes, some people don't like rain but love snow. With two kids, snow is a lot more fun than rain.

When my husband's aunt and uncle lived near Lugano, they said the winters there were cold, rainy and foggy, so wouldn't recommend that region. However, one year I was in Lugano in late January when it was brilliantly sunny but freezing cold (and Milan was equally frigid).

You would be pretty much assured of snow (and snow-related activities) in a place like Wengen.

If the OP wants to completely avoid the cold, then I suppose he could book a flight from Italy to the Canary Islands.

A lot about the weather in Switzerland depends the altitude you are at. For example Geneva and along Lac Leman gets less snow because of it's low elevation compared to up in the mountains. I'm pretty sure it's going to be colder than Italy though, generally speaking.

On the other hand, the Swiss and other peoples further North know how to heat their houses, restaurants, trains, buses, shops... properly, unlike around the Mediterranean.
