Alicante restaurant

On our quick overnight to Alicante last week where we were able to stay for 25E at hotel Ramblas we also ate at a very nice small modern restaurant recommended by our local friends. It is called La Jarela.

It is on calle San Francisco , 4, walkable from almost anywhere.
reservations: 672 267 529

They offered many interesting tapas with a particular twist. They also have a fixed price menu for lunch and another for dinner which all looked interesting. This is a new, crisp modern "gastro" type bar/restaurant.

Take a dictionary to decipher the tapas combinations you will see on the blackboard and be brave and try some of their specialities. The local regional wine won't disappoint.

The place filled up quickly outside on a Friday night.

Ear marking as we will be going to Alicante instead of Valencia in a couple of weeks!

Looking for the best Tapas in Alicante? I definitely recommend Sento!

Good deal! Hotel Ramblas looks pretty decent for a 2-star property. There is an AC where I can get my Marriott points, but then it's twice as expensive as the H. Ramblas.

no comparison, Robert. Really. anyone used to Marriotts or needing that kind of upscale comfort should just pay the difference. Some times when we look for an Alicante hotel Hotel Ramblas does not have its special price on booking dot com. So we go elsewhere.

I have also occasionally off season found a similar special in Javea at a sweet place we have gone a couple times for one night. Nice to get away like that but just a clean place to crash at a good price.
