Stamford CT, Marriott hotel and spa

Is this a good place to stay on our way out of NYC on a Friday night? I found a great deal on a nice hotel, but I don't know anything about Stamford.
We are actually just planning on scenic driving on the following day.
Our original plan was to drive up the Hudson River... but we need a nice place to stay on Friday.

Stamford is a city in all senses of the word. I don't know anything about that particular hotel, but stamford isn't really a tourist destination. But if you want to stay there for the night, maybe enjoy the spa and go out to a nice dinner, it might be fine.

The Castle on the Hudson is in tarrytown, a short drive from the city. It is a nice hotel and a nice restaurant-- not amazing, but very nice. Though i don't think you'll get a GREAT rate there.

Petalz, Stamford wouldn't be a bad choice for a night. It really has blossomed as a city. Directly across from the Marriott is the local mall which was recently renovated with a pedestrian-friendly entrance and several restaurants (P.F. Changs, Mitchell's Fish Market are my two favorites). Down Broad Street are more local restaurants and bars. All of these are walking distance from the Marriott.

I have never been inside the Marriott, but it looks a little tired from the outside. Also, a woman was assaulted in the parking deck about a year ago.

My pick for an inexpensive hotel in Stamford would be the new Courtyard by Marriott. It is right in the thick of things and has an excellent restaurant in the lobby called Napa & Co. I think you will like it.

Napa and Co is nice and trendy. There is also that new food court Lisette is talking about with a Capital Grille, PF Changs, Cali Pizza Kitchen, etc. Stamford has really pumped in up in the past few years!
