Airways Bed and Breakfast in London
Has anyone ever stayed at the Airways Hotel near Victoria Station in London? Tripadvisor had pretty good reviews of the place, but I am a rookie traveller. At 55 pounds per night with a fridge and ensuite bath, I hope it isn't too good to be true..any ideas (good or bad), please let me know. It is book for end of September and then again in October. Thanks!

Hi,
I decided to do some research for you. This is the most recent review on TripAdvisor:

Okay, I have no idea how this place got good reviews. We chose this hotel after reading the reviews on tripadvisor, but i'm telling you, don't stay here unless you're really really flexible. The bed was sooooo old and the springs dug into your back, and the bathroom was the size of a closet. literally. the toilet was in the shower compartment, and you banged your elbows everytime you bent them cause it was so tight. it was musty, and unpleasant. we moved to another hotel the next morning.
I have never stayed here, but I can honestly and comfortably tell you that this description is probably accurate. When I was in London in 2002 I got a room at the Windsor Hotel (which I think is probably very similar to this place even though it seems at the Airway you get a much nicer breakfast.) It was also in an ideal location and the price was cheap. THIS IS A RED FLAG! In London, you PAY for the ideal locations. Windsor Hotel was a DUMP. I hated it (and they made me pay in full before I was able to see my room and then they wouldn't give me my money back!) I am not a 4star person either, so when I say it was a dump, I really mean it.
But like I said, I have never stayed at the Airway ... and from my research, I see that it is indeed in a very good location with easy access to stores and other places (and they offer FREE broadband internet service -very nice) ... maybe this is more important to you. Only you can decide.
Just be careful...and tell them you want to see your room before you pay! BTW, if you look at the website of the Windsor, it looks nice - very nice (and they claim that cleanliness is very important to them...HA!)

Thanks everyone. We have the Airways booked for London and St. Andre des Arts for Paris. I am pretty confident with my choice for Paris after reading so many good things about it..with London I am a bit worried, but hey! It is only a place to sleep and eat the free breakfast!
