worst: boston, logan

security barking: "i recommend your shoes" as i approach security.

me: i'm sorry, i don't understand.

security barking: "i recommend your shoes"

me: am i required to take off my shoes?"

security barking: "i recommend your shoes"

then, in the terminal, i see an overgrown security guard with a TSA jacket (richard jewel look-alike) "detaining" a young, pretty woman for placing a bag on a shelf as she took a drink from the water cooler. he had her in tears from his aggressive questioning. sick.

awful airport.

Forgot to add that I've been to Boston Logan as well. I must say that arriving at CDG everything seemed ok, no problem getting the backpack, but leaving the airport...sheesh. We were told one terminal, but it was really at this other terminal. Then had a long wait in line while everyone ahead of us was searched. The whole terminal waiting area was too open for me. BUT...as much as people have complained about CDG, it's a pretty clean airport.

Favorites: I love the new Athens airport. And I'm a sucker for the Atlanta airport, because I lived there most of my life and know it like the back of my hand. Fiumicino in Rome is pretty ok.

Worst: Laguardia in NYC. What a dump!

There is not an airport I hate as it means I'm going somewhere. I love going somewhere!

That said, I do have my favorites:
FCO, AMS, TPE, NRT, MXP, LHR
They have some awesome Duty Free shops

Orlando International Airport (also called MCO) which is NOT SANFORD Orlando airport is the 21 most busy airport in the world by traffic and one of the nicest I have ever been in. It is fast and easy.

Only when 911 happened did the taxi services become a problem with people quewing up for rides, but other than the traffic outside, it is FANTASTICALLY well designed and beautiful.

Definitely Singapore was the Best! Top Duty Free in the World!
Worst is surely Yangon, Myanmar! Antimidating and surely archaic

I'd like to know when the last time architectlink went thru Orlando ( MCO) ..it took over an hour just to get to the ID check before even hitting security last month. The crowds overflowed and were filling up the whole atrium area .People were missing there planes beccause of the backups. Even the city is complaining about the mess there!
And taxis there are unreliable unless you want to go to Disney. We no longer use taxis from there, preferring to hire a private driver..we don't have to give directions, the cost turns out less, the cars are clean ,
which is more than you can say about the cabs!

I've had that experience at MCO as well -- plus the surliest TSA types around.

I've been through at least 75 airports and find Zurich to be my most favorite. Everything is so convenient. I also like Tampa and Vegas.

But, that said, there is nothing like touching down in either Koh Samui Thailand or Aitutaki Cook Islands. An open air "international" airport really appeals to me!!

My least favorites are OHare, FRA and SJU. SanJuan PR has NO luggage carts. If you can't handle your own luggage, you have to get a porter! There is also a lot of construction going on. They are expanding, but I'm not sure it is well planned out.

As an airport, MCO is a good airport; in constructing airports nobody thought about the paranoia that has swept us all about "security" and the show that TSA puts on; not that anybody for one second really believes these security checks, unfortunately, can stop some demented piece of garbage determined to cause havoc yet we have all been transformed into well it's for our own good.

Security queues are found at most every airport at heavy travelling times or depending on just how efficently the system was imposed on an older airport where the thought of this never occurred to anybody when it was constructed.

What do I want in an airport....1. convenient methods of transporting from gate to baggage check not having to walk miles and miles or so it seems...LHR stinks on that matter as the walk from the gate to immigration (or from the departure lounge to the gate) is very very long in many cases..in many of the terminals at JFK this isn't so...I also want places to eat or relax past the security if I'm early...AA at JFK doesn't do that..once past security you find next to nothing in terms of fast food etc.

So some of the things we say about airports we love or hate are subjective; they are also always being changed.

JFK used to be disgusting when it came to changing terminals....the roadways around the airport at certain times are jammed...but now with the air train that problem has been solved.

I happen to like ATL....a very efficient shuttle system to get from terminal to terminal and lots of places to eat. I also was impressed by DFW the one time I went through it.

Again going through CDG it was the worse. Is it only Air France that does a secondary but random security search on the way to the plane?! This always delays the flights we've been on.

So for you O'Hare experts: I have a flight from Ft. Lauderdale with 1hr 20min layover in Chicago then an international flight back to Canada...am I going to make it???

Anyone know if I have to change terminals (United to Ft. Laud. & Air Canada from Chicago back home).

Canuck_girl24: AC uses Terminal 2, and UA use Terminal 1 or 2 for domestics. The two are connected. You don't need to go through any checkpoints for FLL-ORD-Canada connection. Everything's just like a domestic flight. You have plenty of time.

Although not a really large airport Tampa is best laid out in USA. Its 6 finger layout is very easy to navigate. Other favorites Amsterdam and OHare. I flew out of OHare every week for 8 years and it does have some excitement to it. And yes I missed less than 10 flights due to weather.

I hate Rome's airport...but mainly b/c they went on strike when I was trying to fly home...luckily I was there super early, in the morning (all afternoon flights cancelled, including mine), and somehow found myself on a plane to Munich.

Consequentially, I love Munich airport. As a confused, upset single female traveler (who wasn't supposed to be there), they helped me get a flight to the US (after the debacle in Rome).

My luggage arrived on my doorstep almost 2 weeks later!
