Airport Transportation in Rome
I'm heading off to Rome at the end of the month and I can't wait! I have hit a bit of a snafu. How do I get from the airport (FCO) to my hotel? I'm staying at the Hotel Giardino near the Trevi Fountain. Any ideas? Shuttles and the like? It's going to be three of us, so does it make sense to just take a cab?
Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Helen

Try www.limoservicerome.com...You can book in advance and the driver will be waiting for you when you clear customs. I was very pleased with their service.

Whatever you do, do not let someone come up to you and try and get you to take one of their taxis! This is a scam! Most of the time they'll be there waiting at the luggage pick up scouting out tourists. They have an official looking badge around their neck but their vans are unmarked. They will charge you a fortune for the ride and extra for any of the bags they carry. Best bet is to book ahead like the previous posters suggested.

We use www.limoservicerome.com also. The cars have always been Mercedes and they are not shuttles.they are private cars just for you .
be careful ..there is another car service with a similar website address

The first time we were in Rome we ordered car service to and from the airport. It was around 50 Euros each way for two people.
On our return trip (in a week) we will be taking car service to the airport when we leave as we have an early morning flight out. Service is usually a Mercedes and costs 41E.
This trip we will be using the Leonardo Express train from the airport into Termini Station on arrival. The cost is 9.5 Euros each and the train runs every half hour.
It is less expensive to do this and we thought we would give it a shot as other Fodorites suggested it is an easy transfer.

we ALWAYS use [email protected]
Ask for Andrea and HE will make sure everthing is correct.
You send him your flights and his man is waiting with a Mercedes station wagon to take you to Rome...

Another thumbs up for Andrea and limoservicerome.it. Our group used the service two/from the airport and were very pleased with every aspect of the transfers. Highly recommended. You do NOT want limoservicesrome.com (with an "s"
, so be careful when you type in the URL.

Hi helen,
Train from FCO to Termini will be 9.5E pp. Cab to hotel about 10E.
You can take the metro to Barberini for about 1E each and walk to your hotel.
Cab from airport to your hotel about 45E plus a few E for your luggage.
You do not need to tip the cab driver.

I'll join the chorus for LimoService Rome. We arrived very late on our last visit to Rome and it was great to have the driver waiting. We too had a Mercedes sedan for the two of us. We received an e-mail from Andrea after we returned home, asking if the service was satisfactory! That really impressed us.
Good advice about avoiding rogue cab drivers, and making sure you get the correct URL for the service we recommend.
We have also taken the train and while it is fairly inexpensive, we weren't able to find a seat and had to stand for the entire trip. Additionally, unless we did something wrong, it is a very long walk from the train stop into the terminal. Not great after a long flight, standing the entire trip on the train and then having to walk and pull luggage to Termini. Also you have to take either a bus or taxi from Termini to your hotel.
