One thing about airfares - - the price(s) someone paid last week, yesterday, today, tomorrow or next week might all be different - - even when comparing identical dates, times, city pairs and destinations.

The only really relevant information is what is the price when YOU are ready to purchase.

Having said that, I think you will get a representative feel from consulting the three "majors" - - Expedia, Traveloicty and Orbitz. Then throw in at least one or two inquiries to consolidators; here are two that I have a fairly good feeling about

http://www.the-joy-of-travel.com (don't go by the webiste; even though it is recently improved and expanded, it still does not compare with the info you can get by calling her) - - 1-888-AIR-TIXX

http://www.affordablepoland.com - - despite the name, they actually offer discounted tickets to many destinations in all of Europe, not just Poland or central Europe.

Best wishes,

Rex
From the West Coast -- if you can find a fare around $500 I'd grab it. Possible someone might offer something lower, but then maybe not. If you want your choice of seats, it might be worth it to you to spend more (say $600) just so you know you will be more-or-less comfortably seated and you can spend the rest of your time planning the fun stuff. (I'm assuming you are flying coach?)

We booked through Priceline a few weeks back. We're flying out of Milwaukee (one stop) on Delta airlines and flying into Rome. We paid $620.00 w/ taxes and insurance. Everything online was $1000.00+. It's nice because you can name your price and it will let you know if there's anything close to that price or offer you something that's a little higher. Once the price is named, you only have an hour to think about it.

You are traveling to Italy in peak season, so you might not find anything cheaper at this point. The cheapest I found last year around that time was over $900, and that was from Boston.
