air Shannon-Edinburgh
I've got my vacation planned for this summer except air from Shannon Ireland to Edinburgh. I have looked on Easyjet and Ryanair.com for a flight from Shannon to Edinburgh and cannot find an airline that has that route - will I have to go thru Dublin for such a short flight?
Appreciate your help.

Shannon is not the best European gateway airport. RyanAir has many destinations in UK and European continent but unfortunately for you, Edinburgh is not one of them.
I would suggest checking www.aerlingus.com and RyanAir but in both cases you will have to fly through another city. Aerlingus through Dublin, I'm not sure about RyanAir. In both cases, you need to price each itn separately.
Another option is Glasgow. I'm not sure if either airline or maybe somebody else flies there, but if they do, it's just a short hop to Edinburgh from there, either on a train, bus or a car rental.
Good luck!

Practically nowhere in Europe gets flights from Shannon.
You can go through Dublin. You can fly to Edinburgh from Galway or Cork. Or you can fly to Glasgow Prestwick from Shannon. For all flights between Britain and Ireland, see http://tinyurl.com/nbldc. For timetables, go to www.nonrev.net.

Aer Arann (spelling?) flys from Galway to Edinburgh. Rather than terminate your Ireland visit at Shannon you might consider doing that at Galway. Problem: I have never flown out of Galway so I don't know if there is any kind of VAT rebate 'drop' or TaxBack Counter. My guess would be: No!
