Air Canada Premium Economy?

Has anyone flown this way from Toronto to Europe? Is it worth the extra money?

I booked it once because it supposedly offered a bit of extra leg room in an exit aisle. As luck would have it I got bumped to business/first so never experienced the 'pleasure'.

Try asking on the Aeroplan board on Flyer Talk - the posters there are AC experts!

Only you can decide what is 'worth it'.

Can you sleep in a "regular" seat? Do you think the food will be different? How much is 8 hours of time really worth?

We flew steerage from Toronto to Dublin. It appeared that the Premium Economy seats were just the exit rows. Now they are charging us extra for what we used to get by booking early. *Sigh*

Twice wih Air Canada( to CDG) and once with Air Transat(Frankfurt). ATs "premium" was equal to a regular AC seat.AT seemed to be an older plane. AC regular was just fine. Its like a car, you can take a Ford or a Cadillac, they will both get you there in the end.

Just flew their premium economy last week: Denver to Toronto to Frankfurt. Yes it is just an exit row. The extra legroom is nice and the seat seemed a tad wider than United. Food served was terrible

Can't speak to the food on Air Canada as we refused the dinner meal after smelling it coming down the aisle. "Breakfast" wasn't so bad, slice of banana bread (cold) and juice.

As newtome notes, this is a totally new service which is being introduced on a few Air Canada international routes and at the moment is only available Montreal-Paris and on some routes with its new budget line Air Canada Rouge. Most of the comments here on experiences with Premium Economy are about the preferred seating option (exit row, bulkhead) in Economy Class for an extra fee. PE has larger seats in a separate cabin, different meal service, priority airport services etc.

The exit row seating had a sign on the overhead that read "Premium Economy."

This 2 weeks ago on Air Canada Toronto to Dublin.

I'm six feet tall with wide shoulders so any extra comfort for 8+ hours is valuable. I'm used to flying Business, but have run out of miles, alas.

We flew Frankfurt to Toronto and back again in Oct. Just regular economy. Frankly, these were the most comfortable trans-Atlantic flights I have ever taken. The seats were comfy, I had room for my legs (granted I am not 6', but at 5'6", they worked well for me and usually I feel cramped) We thought the food was decent too, both directions, and the movie selection was excellent. I have now made them my favorite airline.

<<The exit row seating had a sign on the overhead that read "Premium Economy.">>

I've travelled on Air Canada many times, domestically and internationally, and had never noticed such a sign.

One learns something new every day.
