Aegan Air v. Olympic
How is Aegan Air? Also if we take Aegan Air and need to then switch to Olympic Air--is it a major hassle? (Aegan does not fly to Istanbul and we are coming from Santorni via Athens).
Thanks!!

I used Aegean for an Athens-Santorini flight. Aegean is a privately run airline with clean, modern planes, are fairly efficient, and have attractive fares.
Aegean is not unlike Southwest or Jet Blue in USA. Olympic is a government-run airline ... imagine if the Dept of Motor Vehicles ran an airline, and you'd get an idea ...
Changing airlines would be pretty much the same hassle as with any other two airlines.
If you buy refundable-any-time tickets from Aegean, the tix will likely be very expensive.

What does it really matter. I would take the one that offers the cheaper airfare. (I am flying both airlines in July--Olympic from JFK to Athens, Aegean from Athens to Thessaloniki to Rhodes to Athens.) You are only going to be on the plane for about an hour or so.

ok thanks.
i guess i'm wondering if it's a hassle at the athens airport to switch airlines (for a connection). i'm assuming it'd mean we'd have to get our bags and re-check in and go to different terminal etc.
thanks for the feedback..

D'oh .. never mind, I think I misunderstood the question.
I thought you meant buying tix on one airline, then wanting to get a refund and fly on the other.
It appears you meant just a simple connection between Olympic & Aegean.
Either way you probably have to do a customs inspection at Athens (not a big deal in greece!), as opposed to checking bags all the way through.
