Sorry about the other post....so again...we're leaving for Paris on Saturday for our honeymoon and we wanted to know if we should reserve a shuttle service or if we should just take a cab from the airport to our hotel in the Latin Quater. Thanks.

You can take the RER from CDG to the St. Michel Metro station and then use the same ticket to take a metro to a station close to your hotel. It is much less expensive than a cab and probably faster too.

You don't say if you have ever been in Paris and know the transportation system. And you say "we". Take a taxi--about 45E--and start your trip in a stress-free way. A shuttle for two will cost almost as much as a taxi--plus, will it really come. The stairs and turnstiles of the RER and Metro can be daunting.

I would spring for a taxi from the airport, but not bother with arrangements ahead of time.

I agree with taking a taxi. Especially if you are arriving from the states and are tired, the last thing you will want to mess with is working out the RER and metro business while trailing luggage. sometimes it pays off in a big way to spend a little extra money. Get your taxi from the que outside - not from a random person inside.

Most of the shuttle websites I've looked at request/require reservations at least one week in advance; otherwise, the fee goes up. Since you are only a few days from leaving, a taxi probably is the best option for 2 people.

If you're flying from the USA and leaving Saturday, chances are that means you'll arrive in Paris Sunday morning. Take a taxi - there won't be much traffic unless there's a wreck. My taxi in August on a Sunday was less than 35 euros, which I think is less than the cost of a shuttle for two people.

Gretchen was on target....take the cab. The fare is about right unless you have to put bags in the cab trunk and then they charge you 1.5E to 2 Euro more per bag. Tipping at 10% seemed to satisfy the driver. Taking the train et al after a trip from the States is cruel and unusual punishment.

After a wedding and an overnight flight...just get in the taxi queue!

Go to www.pagesjaunes.fr and do a search for your hotel, then click on "Plan" for a map. Print this and bring it with you to hand to the taxi driver.

We always take the RER into Paris, even the first time we went. It is not a big deal unless you are loaded down with luggage. If you want to consider this option let us know where in Paris you are going and someone can advise you on which route and if you need to transfer etc. It really is easy, fast (especially if you get on an "Express" train) and the stations are well marked.

I envy the folks who had an easy time taking the RER, I certainly did not. I'll try it again sometime when I'm traveling very, very light and if I feel very, very rested after an overnight flight.

Paris is a gorgeous city and the Latin Quarter is a wonderful location. Have a great time.
