advice on 4 days spare in italy
I am departing Paris on 26/12 and I am to be in Rome on the 30/12.
I will be travelling by train in Italy and I am happy to fly to Italy from Paris.
I have been to Florence, Pisa, Cinque Terre.
Will the time of the year affect my plans?
suggested places I have had are: Genova, - Portofino (Italian Riviera)
Help please!!!
I am heading to the south of Italy after Rome.
Thanks

I don;t think you would want to go to the Riviera in the dead of winter - it would be deserted, a lot of places closed, and really boring with very short days.
I would much rather do Venice - which is endlessly fascinating and has a lot to see indoors if you get a lot of cold and rain.
So - fly Paris to Venice and then hop a train for Rome - which you will get to in time for New Year's Eve.

Venice is a great choice. Of course, you will probably have high water that time of year, but it would be interesting to see it then.
You could also go to Verona or Bologna and use as a base for exploring areas around them.

Thanks all for the advice. I forgot to mention that I have been to venice. I have not been to Verona or Bologna. Verona sounds good as we could take day trips from there.
Any suggestions on perhaps Milan or Turin?
We are a family of 4 2 adults and 2 adult children 18 and 20.
Any good spots to visit in the Verona area?
