Accomodation help - Fussen, Hohenschwangau, Oberammergau, Garmish-Partenkirche

Hi - I was wondering if any one may be able to help me with some accomodation suggestions. I am traveling to Munich in early November with my parents and a friend. We are interested in spending two nights (weekend nights) in or around the towns of Fussen, Hohenschwangau, Oberammergau, or Fussen-Partenkirche. Has anyone stayed in the area and have any suggestions for accomodations? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do a text search for Hohenfurch and you'll find a lot of recommendations for accommodations.e

Nicole, I really like the Hotel Rubezahl in Schwangau, which is a bit like a gasthaus in that it's on the outskirts of the village, next door to a working dairy barn. That means you get to see the belled cows come and go in the morning and evening if the weather's not too bad. You can stay either in the hotel, which has an excellent kitchen, or in one of the traditional Bavarian-style apartments next door. Check out their website at www.neuschwanstein-hotel.com. Make sure if you stay there, you get a room with a view of Neuschwanstein. It's an easy drive from there to Oberammergau so you can visit both castles and the Wieskirche enroute. If you would rather stay on the Oberammergau side, I like the Blaue Gams, another very nice gasthaus-type hotel which sits on a hill behind the Ettal monastery, just down the hill in the next village to Oberammergau. I prefer Ettal because it's less overrun with tourists than Oberammergau and the monastery is gorgeous. When we stayed there last time, sheep with bells paraded outside our balcony on the hill, competing with the church bells. Surprisingly restful! German-only site: www.blaue-gams.de. Another option in the area is Graswang, halfway between Ettal and Linderhof. You might look at the Gasthaus zum Fischerwirt for more old-style, real gasthaus accommodations with an excellent restaurant serving local food and drink. English site www.zum-fischerwirt.de. Hope this helps, feel free to write if not or you want more info.

Try the Hotel Lisl. We had a great room where we could view Neuschwanstein from one side and Hohenschwangau from the other. And you can grab one of the horse carts to the Marienbrucke right outside the front door.

We also stayed at Hotel Rubezahl in Schwangau. Had dinner out on their patio overlooking the castle. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding. They served everything you could possibly think of and more. It was a steal for $100.00 per night for the two of us.

Hi Nicole,
I would suggest the Hotel Mueller and choose a room viewing Neuschwanstein. I stayed there for 3 days a few years ago and loved it. The restaurant is also top notch. The meal I had was wonderful and the staff was extremely accommodating. Have a good time!!!

Hi Nicole,
I would highly recommend Gutshof zum Schluxen right over the border in Austria. We stayed there in May after visiting Neuschwanstein and it's a short drive (10 to 15 min.). The staff is very friendly, food excellent, etc. Their web site is www.schluxen.com
Have a great trip!
