We have booked flights to Dubrovnik on 25th September for one week and I am now looking for self catering accommodation. I don't want to stay in the old town, as we intend to hire a car. Can anyone suggest an area and/or specific good apartments, either near Dubrovnic or Cavcat? Do you know any reliable agencies that you can recommend? We're looking for somewhere with restaurants within walking distance but suitable for getting out and about with a car.

Judging by the throngs of people with "SOBE" (for rent) signs that greeted our ferry arriving in Dubrovnik in September, I would suggest just winging it. That way you could inspect each possibility and get what you want.
