A1 Airbus from Heathrow still operating?
I'm hoping someone who's been to London in the last couple of years can help.
We used to always take the A1 Airbus to our hotel's vicintiy in the South Ken. area. Last time we were in London, 2 years ago, we were told the A1 was no longer running. We ended up taking the tube. I'm heading to London again in late August and would rather take the bus over the tube, as I prefer the view.
Can anyone tell me if in fact the A1 has been discontinued? I can find lots of references to the A2 on the internet, but the only A1 references are on general "Visit London"-type sites, and I wonder how up-to-date they are.

I, for one, can't figure out why they cancelled the A1 Airbus that went from Heathrow to Victoria Station. It was really nice not to have to take bags on the tube after a long, overseas flight and it was worth the extra price. We preferred the view also. It was part of the excitement of arriving in London.

Thanks for the replies. I too find it odd that it was cancelled. I couldn't quite believe it so that's why I asked on here.
Does anyone know why the service was cancelled?
When we asked at the info counter at Heathrow, we were told it was not operating "for reasons known only to itself". We've heard this phrase in the UK a number of times over the past few years.

London Transport may no longer be running it, but National Express runs a frequent and regular service to Victoria Coach Station. Not the same as a stopping service via S Ken (though some services do stop at Hammersmith).

I wanted that line also last year as I was staying near Gloucester Rd metro. I still like Airbus so what I ended up doing which was not that much trouble and still pretty cheap was take the A1 and then got off around Marble Arch. There is a taxi queue right around there, and so I easily got a cab to go across the park to my hotel. I meant to get off around Lancaster Gate but sort of missed it.
That cab ride only cost around 5-8 GBP, as I recall.
