92 degrees in Venice! Ouch!
I love Venice and I mean LOVE Venice, so much so that I have it as one of my cities with their current weather on my home page on my computer.
I just saw that it is 92 today! And with the humidity, oh, it must be miserable! Even for Venice! I think it would be gelato time, and I hope that all fodorites who may be there now have a hotel with A/C.
The first time I went to Venice it was early July and I remember it was hot, but I don't think it was 92!
Though it would be lovely in the evening sitting outside at a cafe.

Sicily, Greece and the Balkans are enduring 40+ C temps (102 F) at the moment. Meanwhile here in Northern Europe we get excited if it stops raining for a day at the temperature staggers up to 23C (73F).
Not that I want 40C temperatures, 23 is fine, just please can we have some of the sun to go with it??????

The first time I went to Venice it was in late April....a terrible heat wave....99, 100...no air conditioning, the proprietor of the hotel wouldn't turn the air on til May 1st. But I still loved Venice, sweat n' all!! I took this photo in the early morning....looks cool.....NOT....just the haze from the humidity!!

the funny thing is that I live in Sacramento, California where last year we had over 2 weeks over 100 degrees. That didn't bother me as much because of the "dry heat". That humidity is cruel!
Bailey, Great pictures!

I'm currently in Novi Sad, Serbia, and it has been around 106 degrees here. I'm staying in a dorm, cum hostel, and no A/C and apparently no fans are being sold in this area--or I'm not quick enough to nab any. It is miserable! I've learned to walk in the shade, sit in the shade and try to avoid being outside from 1-6PM or so. If only I could find a quick and easy solution to the mosquitoes--bug repellant is only so-so--just like at home. But hey, I'm in Europe, so no complaints! We Americans are so spoiled with our A/C--I'm from the sunny South, but keep my home cooled to about 70 degrees.

lyb,
We were recently there in that heat!!! Hot, but hey, we were in beautiful Venice and the breeze at night was wonderful. Every day we took an afternoon nap!
Although, watching all those people baking in the hot sun while taking an afternoon gondola ride, clothing stuck to their bodies and hair plastered to their heads, was quite a sight!
Bailey, Love your incredible pictures!!!

>spoiled with our A/C
Agreed, such a miserable situation, so much suffering. I can't stand it anymore, just have to cry. All you brave people, be steady. The winds will come eventually, they bring cold air and rain to you to quench you thirst and help you survive in this incredible hell. Hold on and be brave all my american friends ;-)

hey being spoiled by A/C is like being spoiled by having a comfortable bed...you can survive without it, but it sure is nicer to have one!
Though, given the heat in Venice, if I could instantly transport myself there...I certainly would!!!
