6 hours at de Gaulle

I have a 6 hr. layover at de Gualle. Is there anything I can see/do in that time? I won't have my luggage w/ me.

You can get into central Paris (St-Michel stop on the RER) in an hour's time or less. Do that and sit at a café and people-watch and get back on the RER and get back to the airport two hours later. YOu'll at least have had a slice of Paris.

Agree with StCirq - just enough time for a leisurely bite and some people watching - do it!

I don't agree with the other two people. If you don't know the RER and metro system and you don't know the city it would be hard to enjoy yourself in such a short time.

Just my humble opinion.

Take a cab it is not that expensive. We took a cab from CDG in May and I think we paid around 25 euros to central Paris. It took less than one hour.

you might want to be carefull w/ the cab. They often times like to take advantage of American people.
Where is your final destination?

A cab will cost your more than 25 euros. I know Paris well and know the drivers have taken a direct route. I have spent closer to 50 euros to go to CDG -- as have others with whom I've spoken.

The Air France bus takes about 45 minutes and will cost you 10 or 11 euros. It drops you off at Arc de Triomphe, so at least you can see the Champs Elysees. Given the time constraint, that seems to me to be the best solution.

Agree with Toupary-cab to central Paris will cost about 50 euros. I would take the RER downtown--you can get off right by the Eiffel tower.

Make sure you know exactly which part of the airport you need to arrive back at for your flight. De Gaulle is a city disguised as an airport.

I also agree that you won't get a cab to central Paris for 25 euro. Without luggage, it's a perfect chance to either take the RER or the Air France bus or the Roissy airport bus to the Opera Garnier. I do understand the comment that for some people, the RER may be too much for a short trip if they have never been to Paris before, can't read French, and aren't used to that kind of transportation.

Since your luggage is checked through I don't think you need to be back at the airport two hours ahead...even in DC where the efficiency is notoriously BAD it doesn't take that long to get through Immigration and security.
