5 days in Prague
Dear Fodorites,
Which is the best place to stay? Old town or any where else?
Have you heard of Residence Ketezova? Please give me your oppinion.
If possible, give me an idea of a plan for my five days stay in Prague. What to see in and out Prague.
Thanks

Rick Steves does Prague in his guidebook. It includes suggest itineraries and walking tours in addition to accomodations and transportation. It should give you a good idea of the main attractions and a lay out of the city to help you decide where you want to stay.
PS do not use all caps, it is considered shouting!

I think you'll probably get a lot of different opinions in terms of where in Prague to stay since there are a variety of possibilities and good reasons to stay in each location. I think most folks want to see the castle and the Old Town Square, the Charles Bridge the so-called "Jewish Quarter" and Wenceslas Square areas as a bare minimum. Personally, my partner and I enjoy staying slightly away(10 minute tram ride) from the center because we have found what we feel is a wonderful hotel within walking distance of the Castle..and always stay there when in Prague. But this location and its particular price don't suit a lot of folks and Rick Steves wouldn't consider it because it is out of his usual (even "splurge"
price range.
I agree that the Rick Steves information about Prague is one very good source and I like to combine his stuff with several other guidebooks, too, and then make my decisions.
I am sorry I cannot comment on the particular lodging you mentioned. I would recommend doing some basic research either on the net or by using guidebooks to give yourself a general feeling of sites that might be important..once you've done that you might want to repost and ask what people think about more specific sites, etc.
Overall, I think Prague is a wonderful choice especially if you like being in parts of a city that still look almost medieval and are filled with baroque adornment. Good luck.

Depending on how much you want to send...there are the Penta Renaissance and Marriot hotels right near the Old Town. They are very American style full service hotels but very nice. Also, in the old town right near the Powder Tower is the Hotel Astoria, it is a little cheaper, and a great location. As far as what to do...walk and walk everywhere. There are so many little old streets, it is just amazing to see things so old. Also, go in every church possible even if they don't look like much from the outside. They are all beautiful. Do a city bus tour or walking tour, they give you a great overview. The best is to due the city tour and have it end at the castle and then walk back down making your way back to the old town. I have been 5 times and it is still my favorite city!
