3 days in Switzerland going solo ! ;-)
Hi there , ;-)
So here is the deal...
I’m a traveller on a budget.. I have decided to visit Switzerland before I go home for good.. ;-( (early january 07)
I am arriving at Zurich and am planning to visit Lucerne (a definite must as I've heard) Will be staying in the Jungfrau Camping Site region.
I've read most of the other replies regarding the Swiss transportation. I’m not sure whether it’s best to buy the half-fare or just pay for each trip.
My sketchy itinerary is as follows:
- Day 1: Zurich airport to Lauterbrunnen/ (interlaken? (via train) Look around the area there...getting another train to take me to Jungfrau.. visit the town.
-On day two take the jungfrauoch rail to see the 'top of Europe' and the beautiful waterfalls... ;-)
-Day three- visit Lucerne for the day and head back to Zurich... to go back home (late flight)
I may have an optional extra half a day …. Can anyway give me any tips/advice regarding my transportation or even my itinerary….
Any advice will be much appreciated!! Thanks!

Train is the way to go. Check www.hostelz.com, www.bugeurope.com or www.bookhostels.com and find a cheap hostel in advance.
Enjoy your trip.

If you price the train journeys you propose (go to www.sbb.ch/en/), you will see that the one month, half-fare card will indeed save you money.

There's a Fasnacht start in Hergiswil on 06.01.2007 (Saturday) LOTS of action there with Guugemusig and costumes. You can get there by bus or train from Lucerne.
There program: Jubilee: 35 Year Lopper-Gnome Guugemusig
From 13:00: Fasnacht for the family (free)
From 19:00 on (entrance fee SFr. 18.--)
15 Guggenmusigs are playing • Big Party tent • The bar is open until the wee hours of the morning • DJ's • hot meals • Shuttlebus to Lucerne• over 3000 people will be celebrating!!!
