Rome Restaurant for Anniversary Dinner

My significant other and I will be celebrating our 15th anniversary while we're in Rome next May. Having never been to the Eternal City, I would love to get some suggestions where to have a special dinner that evening, without blowing our entire food budget for the trip. Can we go to someplace quiet and romantic and have a nice dinner with wine for around 100 euro? We're staying near Piazza Navona and would like to be within walking distance of our hotel ideally, but I'm open to other areas for the right place.

Yes you can have a nice dinner for that amount. But I am not sure about the "romantic" part of your query...what would make a place romantic to the two of you? I take it you want quiet and not bustling, right? So not a typical trattoria?

You could try Papa Giovanni on Via Sediari. It is small, dark and specializes in truffles. Be sure to make reservations. There are few "romantic" restaurants in that area. In Trastevere, the is Paris and Alberto Ciarla. Both are excellent choices for a special, romantic meal.

We went to Il Bacaro, on Via degli Spagnoli, which is near Piazza Navona. Check out their website at www.ilbacaro.com. It was warm enough (mid-October) to sit outside the restaurant in a tiny piazza, and I found it romantic, though it probably fits more in the upscale trattoria category. Delicious food, particularly the pasta. Our total, including wine, 2 primi and 2 secondi but no dessert, was 96 Euros. It was one of our best meals in Rome.
