Annhig- I do seem to be out of luck on the hotel. I've researched it pretty thoroughly, but usually prefer to get feedback from the fodorites for the most accurate picture. I realize there's a thousand different opinions, but appreciate when people can provide insight based on their own experience. I just realized we're inside 3 months til we leave, so all my research is finally getting used! I'm excited, though.

Runwaycat we stayed very near the Excelsior at the Hotel Royal Continental. This hotel needed a little bit of updating, but the location is second to none. Very lovely view. We had a view room, and as well, the breakfast room looks out over the Bay of Naples, and the Castel dell'Ovo.

The Excelsior has better reviews and the rooms (pictures) look much nicer than the Continental. I wouldn't have any qualms about staying there. It's so nice being on the Lungomare.
