Dulcius--
I was referring only to airbnb. We stayed at an apartment in Edinburgh that we got through booking.com. Large, comfortable, and very convenient--on the High Street next to where Rabbies tours start and across the street from a restaurant serving great breakfasts. One of the best features was the small washer/dryer. Only problem was that climbing up and down the stairs was hard for my spouse.
As you say, airbnb is too new to trust at this time.

I may be too late, but my husband and I visited Europe two years ago and visited Paris, Madrid, Rome, and Venice in two weeks, 16 days total, but two days don't count given the flight time. it is definitely doable! We are in fact planning a second trip this coming May, I'm still deciding where I want to visit. If you haven't checked them out, look into easyJet, you can fly for cheap and save lots of time!

ninamyers: as janis says this is a year-old thread not likely to get much attention - repost your question as a new thread - be specific as to what two countries you are talking about - you age - your mode of travel - your interest, etc and you'll get a ton of great info.

Hi guys, am new to the forum. I will be visiting Europe for the first time, any suggestions on a 10-day itinerary which includes beautiful trails to hike? What would be the 'must-visit' places if this is the case? I am also into architecture and sceneries. I will be starting from Newcastle, and returning to Newcastle after the trip, what is the best (and cheapest) way to travel to these places?

Nobody's reading this old thread. Start your own thread by clicking on + POST NEW TOPIC in an orange "box" at the top left of this page. When asking for help, be as specific as possible about your budget, your interests (what kinds of architecture, what kind of scenery), time of year for your trip, your age, etc.

Welcome to Fodors ramonajanerasid. Mimar is correct -- you really should start a new thread of your own. You will have entirely different questions about probably entirely different places.
It usually isn't a good idea to tack on to an old/moldy thread.

Hi Ramon.
Welcome to Fodors, while a new thread would make it easier to access a few ideas to start with
1) Newcastle... there are a lot of these. I'm going to assume you mean the one in the North of England as that is the original one.
2) Staying in the UK you could look at following the Roman wall (Hadrians) a nice hike as you get up into the hills. I'd also look at the C2C bike route (Sunderland to Whitehaven) takes about 4 days if you ride as slowly as me.
Now what comes out of this is it depends on the time of year if you need to book rooms ahead. If this is August then yes, but May (away from school holidays in the UK) I might risk it, with the fall back of taxis to un-booked hotel. However, there are large tracks where taxis may not be able to access.
So, first question, when are you coming?
Is it just you or are family/friends involved?
How many days are really available. If the Newcastle is not the one in the UK then you may find time you think of holiday is actually time for travel. So exact dates and times are useful.
Do you have any dietry limits we need to take into account? Do you also like to visit towns as York might be a good base for walking all over North Yorkshire?

Let me add my welcome to Fodor's!
One problem with tagging onto this old thread is that after the original post your question is over 60 posts down. Many people wouldn't bother reading that far, so your question may not be seen by someone who could give you a good answer.
Mimar's suggestion to start a new thread was made with the best of intentions. That way everyone will see your question, and the thread will be yours alone.
