Message to Cynthia: As a fellow Canadian I sympathize with your concerns about our dollar's buying power. I too will be in Paris next June with my 20yr old son and we're staying at Hotel du Champ-de-Mars. We've stayed there before and we love the hotel, the location and the rue Cler area. We're being charged 78Euros a night for twin accomodation. There are lots of food shops within a 2 min walk as well as 2 mini supermarches so we'll pick up baguettes, ham (at Davoli), cheese, fruit, soft drinks, etc for our breakfast and lunch/dinner depending on when we eat out. The Cafe Marche is right across the road; delicious, reasonably priced meals. The Metro station Ecole Militaire is right around the corner.

Linda,

Thank you for your information. I think the Royal Phare is not very far from the Champs de Mars. We will be practially neighbours. It's good to hear people mention positive things about the area.
