2 or 3 day car trip from paris?
I will be in Paris for 2 weeks in the middle of April (straddling Easter). SInce this is my first time in France (and who knows when I will return, I thought it would be nice to take a one or two night car trip. Anyone have any suggestions? I wanted to go down to the caves, but when I read that they were replicas, I love interest. What about Provence? Is that too far? Is April a good time? Or anywhere else??? Thanks in advance for any advice.

How about a drive to Normandy and Brittany? I did the trip about 15 years ago, so I can't remember all the details...but I know we vistited Rouen, Caen, Mont St. Michel, Deauville and Honfleur.
It was a fantastic trip - we spent either 2 or 3 nights. Maybe someone who has been there recently can add some details.

What are you interested in seeing? If you are into WW2 history, Normandy is good. Well, Normandy is good anyway. If you list what your interests are, someone can give some good advice.
By the way, my 1 trip to France was in March, and the weather was fine.

Only one of the caves in the Dordogne is a replica. There are many others with original prehistoric art, and they are well worth visiting. I saw two of them last summer which I recommend highly: Font de Gaume and Pech Merle.
On the other hand, that's a pretty long drive just to spend a night or two.

Dear Inic:
With 2 or 3 days to spare apart from Paris, I'd take a trip toward Burgundy.
Try stopping off in Auxerre, Autun, Beaune, Dijon and Vezelay.. Eat the food, drink the wine and soak up all that Burgundy has to offer..
Regards..
