We stayed at Hotel Daniels on Via Frattina near the Spanish Steps and good shopping last Sept 2005. Great location, staff very helpful, English speaking. 300 Euro/night. Great little restaurant tucked behind it a few streets back (Via Borgognona I think)called Cafe Romano where we had an early dinner and shared the restaurant with Jon Voight and his filming crew who were in Rome shooting the TV special on Pope John Paul! Be sure to bring your walking shoes!

Has anyone stayed ther when in Rome ??, I am planning to stay in OCtober, and will gladly report back, but i'd love to hear feedback before I go.

I loved Naples, but I found that most of the taxi drivers I encountered were snakes. I didn't mind the round-about routes that much, as I looked upon them as unplanned sight-seeing tours, but there was often a hassle over the fare. My favorite: "No, that's not the meter, that's a clock."
