I just got an availability at the Hotel Monge at a decent rate. Sooooooo would you chose it or the Novotel Les Halles for the "weekend". Les Halles seems to be better for metro connections and closer to my shopping areas. Anyone have any thoughts on either? I have checked tripadvisor and other fodor's comments but still am confused.......

Robespierre - tried Hotel Alixia website. In Antony!? Isn't that where the Tour de France started out this year?

Haven't been in either but wouldn't the Novotel have a 'better' room than H.Monge? (quality/space-wise)

The immediate les Halles area is sometimes a bit of a turn-off, but I doubt it's that bad and just involves a very small area. I mean, rue Montorgueil is right there, very 'Paris', and you're steps away from le Marais and your shopping as you say.
Place Monge is very nice, just a neighborhood and not a bad choice, near rue Mouffetard, walkable to Pantheon...I just think it would come in 2nd to Novotel.
