11 days in late May -- heading north from Lisbon

Hello
My son and I are traveling in Portugal for 11 days. He would like some surfing time. I would like history and culture. Looking for recommendations for itinerary after 2 nights in Lisbon.

Hi, very good choice,
Since you want to go north i recommend these:

Lisbon 2 nights is short: Should be like 4 nights, 2 in Lisbon city, 2 days trip to Sintra (only 30 minutes away), with its castle, Palaces and the beaches very good for surfing (Praia Grande, Praia das Maçãs, Praia da Adraga, Foz do Lisandro), and 1 day trip to Cascais beach (only 30 minutes away) resort and Guincho beach, windsurf mecca.
After that head to Ericeira surf resort, surf mecca of Portugal, only 50 km away. Next should be the Supertubos Beach in Peniche (80 km away) were world surfing competition take place. From Peniche you can do a boat trip to the nature reserve islands of Berlengas, also with a small beach. After that, Óbidos (26 km away) for a culture escape, it's a fairy tale medieval village. Close you'll find the Óbidos Lagoon. Next Should be Nazaré, were you can find the worlds biggest waves ever surfed

From Lisbon to Nazaré are only 122 km if you travel directly by car.
The all route will be like this:

I don't know how much time you want to stay in each place, but has you can see is not that far from Lisbon. Close to Nazare you have the World heritage sites of Alcobaça, Batalha and the Knights Templar castle of Tomar. Nazaré could be a good base for you to explore this places. A little bit further north you can find the biggest Portuguese beach, Figueira da Foz and the world heritage city of Coimbra.

South of Lisbon there is also a surf mecca and amazing villages and beaches that are also very good:
