10 days in Ireland
Hi
My husband and I are planning 10 days self drive trip around southern Ireland in Sept 2017. Any suggestions about places to see and stay would be very welcome. The only thing we are sure we want to do is visit Dingle..
Thanks in advance

WHY??? What is in Dingle that isn't in the other 99.4% of Ireland?
BURN your Rick Steves guide, ignore folk who think Dingle was the only place worth seeing, because they probably just wanted to be near another thousand tourists.
Get to grips with a decent independent, well researched guide book. Then decide where you want to go not where you want to be sent.

I'm so curious why the dislike for Dingle? I myself and planning a road trip through Ireland and Dingle was on my radar...and am I missing something?...it seems like there is a big dislike for RS on fodors and tripadvisor and I'm curious why?

Rick Steves is much loved in Dingle and folk who love Dingle, after all himself and the Dolphin arriving down there about 1983 paved the way for Tourism becoming the towns saviour when the farms and fisheries were beginning a sad decline. Folk I knew moved out and New Build blow in's came to the rescue.
Love the peninsula, Not as keen on how the town has changed. But, there is little if anything on the peninsula I can't show you somewhere else.

If Dingle is on your wish list - you should go.. if you plan on driving the peninsula, drive it first - so your car is on the inside of the road. We were there 2 years ago and made sure we did this.. we felt much safer with the land to our left vs the ocean. Dingle town is still quaint and I didn't feel it was much different than when I was there 20 years ago. Make your own opinion
