Ireland: Self catering in Ventry or Tuosist?

Message: I will be traveling with family (5) and my mother to Ireland in May. We are looking at self-catering to save some money. I've identified two potential sites, one near Ventry and one at Tuosist (near Kenmare). We want to spend several days exploring the south west, and over to Cork before heading for Dublin. Does anyone known either of these places and have advice about which would be more centrally located for tourist travel?

I myself liked the ventry location.2 miles from Dingle,Connor Pass etc.Slea head about 1 mile or so.The home we rented had 4 bedrooms,3 baths, huge kitchen, living room, electricity included for about 300 a week. You can find it at Dinglewest.com....click on the Donal Mcdonald home.

insight, Much as I love Dingle, Ventry is out on the end of a peninsula and it will take you at least an hour (or more) just to get off the peninsula. Then there is the drive to wherever. Kenmare makes more sense as a central place from which to do day trips. From Kenmare you can do the whole southwest and even into Cork. Bottom line is you will see more from Kenmare than from Dingle. Look at a map of Ireland and see for yourself.
