Which cruise line to the Med?
My husband and I are trying to plan our first cruise for next summer/fall. We have been checking out all of the different itineraries for the Mediterranean and are really excited! I am wondering if any of you have any suggestions for which cruise line and itinerary we should choose. We're young (mid 20s), but don't want too much of a party atmosphere. We'd like to see as many different places as we can in about 12 days.
Thanks so much!!!

I am not sure of exact costs but we went on a Windstar Cruise (sailing ships) for $2700 a person 3 years ago. You will probably be the youngest on the ship but if you are looking for unique ports and a very nice cruise experience I would recommend this one.
One possible drawback since you are pretty young is there is no nightlife at all. My husband and I watched tons of videos in our room every night and loved every minute of it.
I think almost all the major cruiselines have trips to the med - both more expensive and less. If you check out www.cruisecritic.com you can research what you think will work best for you.

I was going to suggest Windsurf as well. I've been on it from Venice to Rome and my son and daughter-in-law (age 30) are scheduled to go this October from Rome to Venice. There is no "night life" but dinner is not assigned seating ortime so you can go later, make it leasurely, then go for a nightcap up on deck which is lovely, and then adjourn to your to your cabin. The cruises tend to be seven nights and then you can spend a few days before or after the cruise in Europe.

Both Princess and Roybal Caribbean offer 12 day Med trips that are more affordable (you could easily get a balcony or mini-uite for under $3,000 pp) and would have guests closer to your age with more activities on the ship for the 'at sea' days. Check them out.

I just got a bunch of brochures because I too am thinking about a Med cruise in sept with my hubby. For that amount of money I would say you could go on any of the major lines... Celebrity, Princess, HAL,all have cruises starting at about 1400 per person without air... I also am looking into Mediterranean Italian Cruise line because of smaller ships and more European clientel. If you've never cruised before maybe it would make sense to also consult with a travel agent where you live to get some face to face opinions of what's right for you.

My husband and I are booked on a 12 night Med on Celebrity Millenium in May. We got a great deal of $1600pp for a balcony cabin. It has a great itinerary for the ports we want and the right atmosphere. We are both 30 and though we have heard the crowd tends to be older than RCCL we don't need to party every night. RCCL also has a similar itinerary.

Hey, Penguin! The cruise you mentioned that you are going on sounds the one that we're leaning towards... Sounds like you have similar interests! We were also considering the RCCL itineraries. When do you go? You'll have to come back here and let me know how you enjoyed it!!!

Leigh,
I will definitely post a report. We leave on May 23. The one on RCCL looked great too but we were just on their new ship Navigator of the Seas in Feb. and we wanted to try a different cruise line. I will post a report when we return June 8.

Also, forgot to mention looking into Orient Cruiselines. This was a fabulous mediteranean cruise and the price includes pre and post hotel stays and at least one tour in these two cities. We were very impressed with how much we got for the $$ and the ship and staff were wonderful!

I agree with petlover. We took a Med. cruise on Orient Lines Marco Polo last Sept. It was great!.It is a smaller ship so it can go to more unusual ports. However, if you want glitz and big shows this is not the ship for you. We will certainly book another cruise with Orient again.
