Transfers

My husband and I decided to go to Orlando 2 days before our cruise and book our own hotel. Is it fairly easy and economical to get transportation to and from the ship in Port Canaveral?

Yes, you can get there a number of ways. I just had a group on the Mariner of the Seas and she was late coming into port from the prior cruise. Taxis would not take me, so I ended up taking a shuttle back to the airport and arranging for a transfer from Royal Caribbean. It was painless.

I wouldn't hesitate to suggest taking the ship's shuttle in this port. Port Canaveral is about 45 minutes from Orlando, and the shuttle would be the most econical way (and the most efficient)

You can do a one way rental car with Avis and I think Dollar?? Would offer the most flexability.

Would the ship allow us to use their transportation although we've booked our flight and hotel on our own?

Yes you can purchase the cruiseline transfer with independent booked air. Have your booking agent request it.

Be sure to request the transfer BEFORE arriving at the airport--some cruise lines (Celebrity, others??) do not allow pruchases at Orlando or FLL if I remember correctly.

I'd be sure to check with the cruise line. We cruised on Orient last year, and they do not sell transfers to passengers who have booked air indeppendently.
