Go to the Radison IN Port Canaveral. You will be refreshed when you get on the ship as you don't have the distance from Orlando to travel in the morning. This is a very nice reasonable hotel with a free shuttle to the port. A LOT of cruise passengers stay there and you MUST make a reservation for the shuttle to the port- that's how many cruise guests they get. And you can see the ships from the hotel!

Do not spend the night in Port Canaveral. Rather, spend it, as bonniejns suggests, in Cocoa or Port Canaveral itself. It's over an hour drive to Port Canaveral from Orlando, and it will be much more relaxing to be near the ship. There are lots of hotels on the beach in Cocoa Beach if you don't want to stay at the port itself.

Sorry, I mistyped. Do not spend the night in Orlando. DO spend it in the Port Canaveral area.

Thank you everybody. I decided to go with Wingate by Wyndham at airport as we arrive late and it is close to MCO. Will reserve shuttle for the following morning with pick up from hotel to ship. On the way back, will have several hours to kill. Shuttle back departs Pt. Canaveral at 9:30 AM and my flight is at 3:30 PM. Is there anything interesting to see in short time close to MCO airport?
