Riverside Hotel Ft Lauderdale
Has anyone stayed at this hotel before or after a cruise out of FLL? My TA recommended it, and has now booked it. The rate he got was $129. Is it a good value? Will we like the location? We did not feel the need for a beach location as we will be on beaches during our cruise. Thanks!

You will be able to find a hotel for half that price that will even include breakfast and a shuttle to the pier. It will depend on your needs as how "fancy" you need your hotel to be.
Look for Comfort Suites, SpringHill Marriott, AmeriSuites, etc. I'm sure others on this forum will be helping you also.

I forgot to add that Comfort Suites is along Federal Highway, close to plenty of places to eat, but not shopping. However, a quick cab ride will get you to a Water Taxi stop. The AmeriSuites is also close to restaurants and a little closer to the Water Taxi route.
If it's just 2 people in the room, you can get a great price on some good hotels through Priceline.com, but check BiddingForTravel.com to find out what others winning bids are for the hotels you'd want. I recommend the Hyatt Pier 66 (4* Beach category) or the 3* Downtown category which will get you either the Marina Marriott (directly on the Water Taxi route) or the Embassy Suites (free breakfast and fairly close to the water taxi.)
Depending on the time of year you are traveling, you can get these hotels for $60-$100 easily. I spoke with people who stayed at the Marina Marriott and they loved it.

Thanks for the replies. I'll be checking out some of the less expensive places. There are four of us, but we will get two rooms, so two to a room. It is possible that we will make a drive down to South Beach on the day before we cruise as we reach FLL before noon. Will get a hotel that's closer to the cruise port if we do that.
Appreciate all the help.

You're on vacation! Splurge! The Riverside Hotel is nice, it is verrrry old and very Spanish in architcture. I really cannot give you any feed back on cheap hotels/motels because I personally do not like them and try to stay away from them. When I'm on vacation I want the best there is that I can afford!
