St. Thomas-Magen's Bay
If we grab a taxi to go to Magen's Bay will there be taxies around to take us back to the ship when we want to return. I realize we can ask to cabbie to return for us, but can't be sure he will and we aren't sure how long we will want to stay. Is there a taxi stand or something there? Also is there a bar/place to buy drinks in the beach vicinity? Thanks, two weeks from today is take off!!!!!

Patty- I know in Batbados, when we took a cab from the ship to the beach, they told us to get the price up front, and then tell the driver you will pay him WHEN he picks you up...

We never had a problem with that in Barbados...I assume St Thomas works the same way....

There are tons of taxi's to take you back from Megan's Bay.

When we went, the taxi driver offered to come and pick us back up at a certain time. He was there about 15 minutes early. They seem very eager to please.

As far as drinks - they have people come and take your order on the beach (while you are laying out).

Simply paradise!

Second what Theresa said. There will be loads of taxis to take you to Magens and loads of taxis to take you back. They are lined up by the entrance to the beach. The cost is $6/person one way ( at least that is what it cost summer 2002)

Have fun! Magens is a beautiful beach and the scenery to the beach is beautiful too. There is no snorkeling there.

PattyD, just returned in Jan. from a cruise. There are plenty of taxis not to worry at all. You have to rent a lounge chair if you want one. There is a bar and a stand for food as well. There is also a tropical drink with cinnamon, or nutmeg on top. (I can't for the life of me remember the name.) It was very good. I highly recommend it. Have fun.
