Independence of the Seas New Year cruise

This was my first time on Royal Caribbean and my third cruise. Independence of the Seas with all of her battle scars is a beautiful ship. I found the food very good. Romero and Joliette was the dining room I ate most of my dinners. The food choices didn't change. I enjoyed dining in the Windjammer. They had many choices. I had an ocean view room near the back of the ship. I loved it because there was only three rooms at the end, so there was limited traffic in the hallway. The first port was Grand Cayman Islands. I went on the tour of the island. My friend went shopping. I enjoyed visiting Hell. It was interesting to see coral on top of land. The next day I went to Montego Bay from Falmouth. I love Montego Bay. I shopped on the hip strip. I had forgot to get castile soap so I went back out in Falmouth to get it and had time to spare. The last stop was Labadee. It was hot. I signed the contract on suited up for the zipline. I enjoyed it so much I wanted to do it again but the price stopped me. The buffet on Labadee was good. I enjoyed the ribs. After doing a little shopping I went back to the for some air conditioning. I went to several shows and enjoyed them. Overall a great cruise. The only issue was unsupervised children. Even when the parents were with them, some parents had no influence on their children. Also some parents allowed their children in the adult hot tub and the staff didn't say anything. On the last night, there was supposed to be an adult karaoke and the staff said that at 10pm, parents take the little ones to the cabins but that went on deaf ears. Two boys under 10 continued to run on the stage. Finally at a little after midnight I left. Overall I enjoyed the cruise. I feel Royal Caribbean should enforce rules when it comes to adult only.

Sometimes it's the adults who go unsupervised.

I'm happy you had a good time overall.

Yes you are right about unsupervised adults. Children only do what they are allowed to do. My family will be going on a cruise in October. This will be the last one. I will be going to South Africa and China after the cruise.

It depends. Our last cruise on the Diamond Princess out of Yokohama was fine. However on the previous one we took, the CCL Legend out of Tampa we were aghast at how some passengers behaved.

Jacketwatch, what were the ports leaving Yokohama? Is that cruise out of Japan? Hopefully the adult will be okay on the upcoming cruise, if not, its only a four night cruise.

Yes it was out of Japan. There were 4 Japanese ports, Aomori, Otaru, Hakodate and Kushiro and one Russian port, Korsakov.

What is your next cruise?

We are leaving out of Jacksonville because some family members want to drive. We will be on Carnival Elation. It goes to dry dock in March, I think. I know its an older ship but the price is good. There will be a few first time cruisers and my daughter thinks it will be good for the group traveling with us.
